Description: Houses in the sky, cars with rocket fins, and furniture that looked like it could fly--an introduction to the designers that brought the future to our homes. A longtime fan of Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design offers an introductory look at how the movement began, what it produced, and presents a few of the little parts of it we can all get our hands on and enjoy.
Speaker biography: Marc McAfee is a writer, editor and lifelong Georgia native. He was also a weird little kid who liked 50s design so much he was called "time warped" 30 years ago by a classmate in 4th grade. He's still "time warped," but now other people sure seem to think his stuff is cool. He has called Smyrna home since 2012, where he now subjects his long-suffering family members to a home where the blue rotary wall phone works just fine, a 1960 Jukebox is considered a kitchen appliance, and an occasional Twilight Zone viewing makes for a fun family movie night with the kids.
