DESCRIPTION:<h4>Black History Month Lecture: The Real Hank Aaron</h4>Saturday, February 4, 2023<br>3:00-4:00 p.m.<br>Smyrna Library, Meeting Room<br>Light refreshments will be served.<br><br><strong>Presenter: Terence Moore, author of </strong><a href="https://library.smyrnaga.gov/?#section=resource&amp;resourceid=846117647&amp;currentIndex=0&amp;view=fullDetailsDetailsTab" target="_blank"><em><strong>The Real Hank Aaron</strong></em></a><br>Terence Moore went from a 12-year-old Hank Aaron fan who even bought a poster of him back in 1968 to an honorary pallbearer at his funeral in January 2021. Courtesy of their 40-year friendship, Mr. Moore knew Hank better than any reporter in history. As a result, a few months before his death, Mr. Aaron encouraged Mr. Moore to write this book that is 95 percent fresh information on the life and philosophies of baseball's greatest player.<br><br>Speaker Biography:<br>Terence Moore lives in Smyrna, where he is a national sports columnist for Forbes.com and the weekly contributor to WSB-TV's Sports Zone Sunday. Mr. Moore observed, "In so many ways, I'm the Jackie Robinson of African American sports journalists after 45 years working for major media outlets. I was the first Black sportswriter in the history of both the Cincinnati Enquirer and the San Francisco Examiner. I also was the first Black sports columnist in the history of the Deep South when I spent 25 years in that role at the <em>Atlanta Journal Constitution</em>."<br><br>Sponsored by the Friends of Smyrna Library
