Pay a Tax Bill

Tax bills are issued in September and are due in November. The City now offers the ability to View and/or Pay Property Tax Bills Online (https://cityofsmyrnaga.munisselfservice.com/css/citizens/default.aspx).

Payments are also accepted via mail to Property Tax, 2800 King Street, Smyrna, GA 30080; or in person in the Finance Department on the second floor of City Hall.

  • Occupational taxes are collected separately via annual Business License renewals.
  • The City imposes no municipal sales taxes.

Ways You Can Pay Your Taxes 

The City of Smyrna offer several ways to pay your property taxes:

Online

Payment can be made at Smyrnaga.gov.  Just click on “Make a Payment” and follow the instructions.  We accept e-checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover Card.  Please note that there is a service fee added to your total when you use a credit card or debit card.  You will be charged a minimum charge of $2.50 or 3.5% of your total charge, whichever is higher.  E-check fees are $1.95 per transaction.

If making a credit card or debit card payment in-person, the fees noted above will be added to the payment.  You can still make a payment by check or cash with no additional fees.

Exemptions

Residential home owners in Smyrna may qualify for one or more exemptions (reductions to your property tax bill). Currently, these exemptions include:

  • All Smyrna home owners qualify for a homestead exemption that caps the property tax at the initial assessed value of the home. 
  • Property owners age 62 or over living in the City are granted a $10,000 exemption.
  • Property owners on 100% disability with income of $12,000 or less from all sources, excluding social security benefits and other retirement plans, are granted a $22,000 exemption.
