Borrowing Limits

  • 20 total physical items (books, CDs, book CDs, etc.) per card
  • 10 DVDs per card
  • 1 puzzle per card
  • 1 baking pan per card
  • 1 Smyrna Strong item per card
  • 1 Music Maker kit per card
  • 1 Park Pass per card
  • 10 eBooks/eAudiobooks on Overdrive Libby
  • 6 items per month on hoopla
Loan Periods
  • Books, Magazines, Audiobooks, Music: three (3) weeks with 2 renewals (as long as no other patrons have the item on hold)
  • DVDs (regular and Blu-Ray): one (1) week with one (1) renewal
  • Puzzles: one (1) week with two (2) renewals
  • Baking pans, Smyrna Strong items, and Park Passes: one (1) week with one (1) renewal
  • Overdrive Libby eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines: two (2) weeks
  • HOOPLA movies & TV shows: three (3) days
  • HOOPLA music: one (1) week
  • HOOPLA eBooks, eAudiobooks & eComics: three (3) weeks
Overdue Fines
  • Books, Audiobooks, DVDs, Puzzles, Baking Pans, Smyrna Strong items: $.20 per day
  • Park Passes: $1 per day
  • Borrowers are blocked from borrowing and using computers if fines exceed $10.

Lost Cards
$2 replacement fee

Non-Resident Fees
Individual: $25 (one-year membership) / $50 (two-year membership)
Family (up to four people): $60 (one-year membership) / $120 (two-year membership)

Renewals
Cardholders may renew books in person, by phone or online with library card number and PIN.

Holds/Reserves
Cardholders may reserve books in person, by phone or online. Both materials on the shelf and checked out may be placed on hold.

Are there age limits for cards?
Individuals 16 years old or older may get a card with proper identification. Children under 16 may get cards with the consent of the parent or guardian. The child must be present to obtain the card.

Who is responsible for fines and charges incurred by a child?
The parent or guardian who signed for the child.

Do library cards expire?
A resident’s card expires every two years. A non-resident card expires annually.
