Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024

A new bill aims to amend Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia, focusing on the Department of Corrections. It mandates the commissioner to report on the immigration status, offenses, and home countries of confined individuals. Additionally, the bill establishes standardized procedures for the intake and booking of aliens and foreign nationals, along with requiring jailers to submit quarterly reports about foreign-born inmates. The City of Smyrna will implement updates related to this legislation on a quarterly basis.

"The Smyrna City Jail is committed to compliance with OCGA 42-4-14 and all other applicable laws" - Major L. Harris.
