There are several ways to check your sanitation scheduling.  You may use the City's mapping feature which supplies additional information about your address in addition to your designated collection day. A pdf of the schedule is available and the number for the Public Works Department is 770-431-2850.

PDF file Option:  If you are having difficulty accessing the database, you may find your street on the Sanitation Schedule pdf in Document Central.

Online Searchable Data:  You may enter your address in the City of Smyrna mapping service to get information about your service as well as other information that includes your ward designation and Council representative.

The City’s Residential Sanitation Division is responsible for performing the essential service of removal of garbage and refuse. Within the service set of Sanitation (under the Public Works Department) is residential garbage removal, curb-side recycling and yard waste removal.

The current yard waste program is performed each Wednesday except during weeks in which a holiday falls. Please note, in weeks affected by a holiday, the City does not perform yard waste collection, only household garbage collection. Look for special messages printed on the message line of your utility bill for notices regarding holiday sanitation schedules. A list of observed holidays and noted adjustments to the collection schedule is available under the Holiday Sanitation Schedule link.

Leaves, grass clippings and small yard waste (small sticks, brush) must be placed in paper yard bags. (The use of plastic bags for yard waste is prohibited.) Note: Leaves are no longer vacuumed at curbside. Leaves for pickup should be placed in paper yard bags and placed at the curb prior to 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday (each Wednesday, except for holiday weeks).

Small trash items will be picked up the same day as your roll-out container or the second collection day of any underground unit.

Large trash items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc. need a work order request made by the resident. The City will charge a $25.00 fee for each item. You may request a large item collection online through the Service Request option. If you are unable to process online, you may contact the Public Works Department at (770) 431-2850.

Recycling (curb-side) is provided by the City of Smyrna. The telephone number is (770) 431-2850. Consult the Sanitation Schedule (enter your address in the fields above) for recycling days. The City of Smyrna Recycling Center may be reached at (770) 431-2869. Additional information about recycling in the City of Smyrna may be found under the Keep Smyrna Beautiful listing. A pdf file with a listing of recyclable materials and requirements is available on the Public Works Recycling page.

The sanitation department delivers recycling bins to Smyrna residents. If you do not have a residential recycling bin, please call Sanitation at (770) 431-2850 to obtain one or submit your request online. Bins are usually delivered automatically to new homes, and existing (resale) homes should already have them, but sometimes they get misplaced. If your new home - new or resale - does not have a bin, just let us know.  We welcome you to the Reduce/Reuse/Recycle culture of Smyrna!

New customers for the City’s sanitation service as well as the recycling program may apply for service at the City of Smyrna Utility Services Office located inside Smyrna City Hall, 2800 King Street. (678) 631-5438.
