Connecting Smyrna. Building Trust.
Smyrna Connects is a new initiative designed to strengthen our connected community through collaboration and community engagement.
The goal of Smyrna Connects is to foster insightful and balanced perspectives that support positive and thoughtful engagement among community members, expand honest dialogue across all Smyrna residents, and strengthen trust between city officials and Smyrna citizens. This program replaces the former Racial Trust Building initiative.
A key feature of the initiative is the formation of the new Smyrna Connects Action Committee (SCAC) - a diverse group of 12 residents providing real-time, objective feedback to the Mayor and City Council. The SCAC will consist of ten volunteers that will represent each of the seven wards, plus two members chosen by Mayor and City Council. Volunteer members will reflect a diverse mix of the community including representatives from the Smyrna Youth Council and Smyrna Citizens Academy, and those that represent education, healthcare, faith-based institutions, small businesses, and non-profits.
All volunteers will be selected through an application process that will begin late January-early February 2026. The process will be managed by an outside firm called Moray Advisors and City of Smyrna government officials. The SCAC will meet three times per year, with the first meeting planned for Spring of 2026.
