Brian Marcos,
Fire Chief
Chief Brian Marcos has served the City of Smyrna for 16 years, first joining the SFD in 2006. Through that time, he has worked his way up through the ranks, eventually being appointed by Mayor and Council to the position of Fire Chief in August of 2022.
Marcos holds a Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFO) from the Commission on Professional Credentialing, is Blue Card Command certified, a Georgia Certified Paramedic, and he is a Georgia Smoke Diver.
He currently serves as the Area 7 District Vice President for the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and as the Georgia State Director for the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs.
Marcos has writings on fire-service leadership topics that have received publication by fire-service trade magazines, and he is regularly sought to provide informative lectures to Fire Service Organizations, as well as agencies and businesses in the private sector.
Marcos is a founder of the United Leadership Program (2019), which aims to develop future leaders in public safety through lectures, innovative learning techniques, and experiences leadership speakers. Marcos is a graduate of Leadership Cobb (2017) and he completed the Executive Leadership Program for Manager and Directors (KSU).
In 2020, he was named the Chief Fire Officer of the Year by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs. That same year, he was named one of Cobb Life Magazines “20 under 40”, as well as one of the 50 Most Influential Hispanics in Georgia, by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Marcos has an associate’s degree in Fire Science and a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration, both from Columbia Southern University.
