Q: Where is the Court?
A: Smyrna’s Municipal Court is located at City Hall in the Council Chambers, first floor, 2800 King Street, Smyrna, Georgia. From Atlanta Road, take West Spring Street that runs into King Street. City Hall is at the end of West Spring Street. There is plenty of parking in the large rear lot behind City Hall.

Q: How are the bond amounts established?
A: The bonds are set by Mayor and Council and reviewed annually.

Q: Is it mandatory that I appear in Court?
A: Some violations require a court appearance and others do not. Please contact Court Services at 770-431-2804 to verify.

Q: Will there be a Spanish-speaking interpreter for me on my court date?
A: Yes, there is a Spanish-speaking interpreter at every court date.

Q: If I plead not guilty on my court date will the case be tried that same day?
A: No, your original court date is an arraignment date for you to enter your plea of guilty or not guilty. A plea of not guilty will require a new date, established by the court, for the purpose of trials only. The officer and any witnesses involved in your case will be subpoenaed to be in court on this new date.

Q: Can I pay my fine on my court date without sitting through court?
A: All fines must be paid by 5:00 p.m. the day before your court date or you will have to appear at 9:00 a.m. on your scheduled court date. You may now pay court fees online.

Q: When can I obtain information from Court Services after receiving a citation?

The Probation Division ensures that offenders on probation comply with their sentences. In addition to collection of fines, restitution and court fees, the Probation Division oversee completion of community service and drug and alcohol treatment programs by offenders.

  1. How are my payments calculated?
    We take the total amount of fees owed and total amount of fines owed and add them together to the total paid then divide monthly to get a minimum monthly payment.
  2. Will I have to report monthly?
    Yes, you are required to report in the office once a month. Failure to do so is a violation of probation.
  3. Will probation show up on my record?
    Yes, depending on the charge it will show up on your criminal history, traffic history or both.
  4. Where can I do community services?
    Community service has to be done at a non-profit organization, excluding churches, to be approved by your probation officer.
  5. Am I allowed to consume alcohol while on probation in my own home even if my charge is not alcohol related?
    NO! You are not to consume alcohol whatsoever while on probation. Doing so is a violation of your probation.
  6. Am I subject to drug screens?
    Yes, your probation may request a drug screen at any time at your expense. Failure to comply is a violation of your probation.
