Recently Adopted Plans and Studies Requiring Citizen Input:
- Spring Road Corridor LCI Study (October 2016 - April 2017) - focusing on guiding redevelopment along Spring Road and identifying appropriate investment projects to improve aesthetics and functionality of this corridor.
- Georgia Tech Smyrna Gateway Studio (September 2016 - March 2017) - 11 students from Georgia Tech's School of City and Regional Planning studied the area of Spring Road adjacent to Sun Trust Park and proposed recommendations that balance quality of life for existing Smyrna citizens but also creates redevelopment opportunities to accommodate future growth. The studio was informed by citizen input, as well as a Market Study and Fiscal Analysis
- South Cobb Drive Corridor Improvement Study (September 2016 - June 2017) through a GA Department of Transportation grant, the S Cobb Dr corridor was analyzed to identify projects that will improve functionality and aesthetics of the corridor.
- 2040 Comprehensive Plan (December 2016 - October 2017) - Guide Smyrna, the 2040 Comp Plan contains the city's 20 year vision. This plan will provide guidance for staff and council when making policy and land use decisions, as well as capital investment decisions.

The Building Department provides inspections for new residential, office, commercial, and industrial developments as well as any residential additions and remodeling jobs. You may download permit and plan review applications online.
The Business License office issues the licenses and permits required to do business in the City of Smyrna. Applications can be downloaded online and submitted either electronically or in person.
Code Enforcement provides information to residents concerning City code compliance, including business licenses, signs, property maintenance, and parking. You may contact the marshals with any questions about a notification you received. Citizens can also report violations themselves using the City’s online Service Request system.

The Planning and Zoning Department performs ongoing and long-range (comprehensive) planning for the City. You may contact our planners with questions about zonings, permitted uses, variance requests, or acquiring copies of City maps.

Fees for Plan Review are due at the time of plan submittal. Please contact Community Development for the most current Plan Review fee schedule. After plans are approved a Land Disturbance or Building Permit is required prior to any construction activity.
