AGE: The median age in Smyrna is 35.7 years. Twenty-one percent of residents are between 20 and 34 years old. Thirty-two percent are between 35 and 54 years old. Smyrna ranked #4 in a 2014 study of the Best Cities for Young Adults in Georgia.
INCOME: Median household income in Smyrna is $58,545. Per capita income is $37,844, which is 30 percent higher than the Atlanta metro region's $28,644. Thirty-two percent of all Smyrna families have incomes over $75,000.
Industry and Education

The top industry for Smyrna residents is Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services. Top employers include such well-known companies as IBM, GLOCK, and Atlanta Bread. EDUCATION: The percentage of Smyrna residents who are college graduates is 14 points higher than the metro Atlanta region. Over half of Smyrna adults have earned four-year college degrees, with almost 17.3 percent holding graduate degrees.
HOUSING UNITS: From 2010 to 2014 the total number of housing units increased by 40 percent, growing from 19,633 units to 27,498 units. Most of these new units were the result of redevelopment, as Smyrna has less raw land available for large-scale subdivision development.

TIME TO WORK: The average time to work for the Smyrna worker is 29 minutes. In comparison, the average Atlanta commuter travels 30.3 minutes each way. A report by the Atlanta Regional Commission shows that Smyrna area residents enjoy some of the lowest travel times in the metro area.
ROADS: The City of Smyrna is strategically located near three interstate and intrastate highway systems: I-75, I-20, and I-285. Downtown Atlanta is a 15-minute drive via the interstate. In addition, several principal arterial roadways pass through the municipality. Running north and south are Cobb Parkway (U.S. Highway 41), Atlanta Road, and South Cobb Drive (State Highway 280). Principal east and west routes include the East-West Connector and access to the Windy-Mac Connector.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The CobbLinc transit system provides public transportation for our residents with links to the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rapid-rail network.
RAIL: There are two major railways that service Smyrna, and Smyrna businesses can take advantage of rail efficiencies even if they are not located directly on a rail line. The rail companies can connect a business to a network of third-party warehouse and intermodal services to meet its specific needs.
