Charles "Corkey" Welch

Charles "Corkey" Welch is currently Senior Vice President of Stevenson and Palmer Engineering, Inc., a civil consulting engineering firm located in Cobb County near the Galleria/Cumberland area. His current position provides project management, marketing and a wide array of consulting services for cities and counties throughout north Georgia. Prior to joining City Council, Welch spent over 30 years working on a variety of Public infrastructure projects with communities throughout north Georgia. While the primary focus of his consulting with Stevenson & Palmer Engineering, Inc. (since 1981) has been water and wastewater projects, he has been directly involved with the funding, design, permitting and construction management of numerous streetscape, community center, downtown redevelopment, and park projects.

Originally from El Dorado, Ark., and a graduate of El Dorado High School (’77), he has lived in the Smyrna area for over 30 years. Charles attended the University of Arkansas and received a bachelor’s of science in architectural engineering technology from Southern Polytechnic State University. Charles resides at 870 Austin Drive with his wife, Catherine. Together, they have one son, Charles W. and one daughter, Nikki.
