Ron Fennel is co-founder and President/CEO of a business and public affairs consulting firm. He is heavily involved with his varied real estate interests and owns a property management company.
Fennel has served in various political positions over his career, including four years as an elected member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing his hometown of Brunswick (1988-1992). While a member of the Legislature, along with his colleagues, he co-authored the Ethics in Government Act, River & Mountain Protection Act and Solid Waste Management Act. He is proudest of his pivotal role in the work to replace the Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick.
Fennel has served as a Board member and volunteer leader for many organizations, including: the Atlanta Convention & Visitors’ Bureau (1999 - 2015); Atlanta’s Table of the Atlanta Community Food Bank (1995-present, Chairman in 1999-2000); TEAM Georgia, a statewide safe driving and safe boating program (1995-present, Chairman since 2008); the Atlanta Fire Foundation (founding Board member, 2009-2013 as Chairman), Hills Park Neighborhood Association (2000- 2008, 2005-8 as President), Vinings Estates Community Association (Board President, 2009 - 2012), Atlanta’s Inn for Children (1995-2002); Smyrna Public Safety Foundation & others.
Fennel has been active in many business groups, including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Economic Developers Association, Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Cobb Honorary Commanders Program, Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, Regional Leadership Foundation, and Committee for A Better Atlanta, among others. He was twice elected President of the Smyrna Business Association (2015-16) and was recently elected by his fellow elected officials as President of the Cobb Municipal Association (2016-17).
Fennel is a graduate of Leadership Cobb (2015), Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s Honorary Commanders’ Association (2011), the Regional Leadership Institute (1998), Global Leaders of the South (1996), and Certified Hospitality Industry Executives (1996). He has taught seminars and programs for the Georgia/Alabama Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Georgia Municipal Association, Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, Southeast Tourism Society, Marriott Business Council, and more.
Fennel, following his re-election, is Chairman of the Smyrna Finance/Administration Committee, a member (former Chairman) of the Public Safety Committee and serves on the Committees of Human Resources and the Courts.
Ron is an alumnus of Georgia Southern University and resides in the Vinings Estates community with his wife Cindy and their young sons Hunter and Walker.
