David M. Lee
Chief of Police
Chief David Lee joined the Smyrna Police Department in February of 2013. Since joining the department, Chief Lee has implemented a variety of community outreach programs. The goal of Chief Lee is to ensure the Smyrna Police Department is a full service, community oriented police department.
Prior to coming to Smyrna, Chief Lee worked for the Marietta Police Department for 31 years. He rose through the ranks from patrol officer to deputy chief. During his career with Marietta, he served in patrol, criminal investigations, undercover narcotics, SWAT, honor guard commander, training coordinator, traffic accident reconstruction, budget manager, and he started the community outreach unit.
Chief Lee served three years in the United States Army Military Police Corps in different assignments in Germany.
Chief Lee is a graduate of North Cobb High School and grew up in west Cobb. Chief Lee has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Public Administration.
Chief Lee is a graduate of the 188th session of the FBI National Academy, the 21st Session of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, and the 33rd Session of the Senior Management Institute for Police. Chief Lee is a certified government manager through the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute for Government and a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Course. Chief Lee has also completed the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Honorary Commanders and Leadership Cobb Programs; Chief Lee is still an active member of Leadership Cobb.
Chief Lee is married to the Lisa Lee, between them, they have four children, three granddaughters and one grandson. Chief Lee is a resident of Smyrna and attends Life Church.
