Operations Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief Bennett began his career with the city of Smyrna Police Department in March of 1995. During his tenure with the department, He has held assignments in various positions with the department to include Uniform Patrol Division, Community oriented Policing Unit (C.O.P.S.), Street Crimes Unit, assistant commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, E-911 Director, and most recently the commander of the administrative services division.
Deputy Chief Bennett was a Marksman of the department SWAT team for 10 years and served as the SWAT team commander for three years.
In 1997, Deputy Chief Bennett was recognized as the Optimist International Law Enforcement Officer of the Year; in 2000 and 2015, Deputy Chief Bennett was recognized by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Deputy Chief Bennett holds active memberships with the Georgia Association of Chief of Police, FBI National Academy Associates, and the Georgia 911 Directors Association.
Deputy Chief Bennett has an intermediate and advance certification with the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council as well as a supervisory, management, and instructors certification.
In his off time, Deputy Chief Bennett enjoys jogging, biking, and spending time with his family.
