Mission Statement

The goal of the City of Smyrna Jail is to provide a safe and secure environment for all inmates and staff consistent with the laws of the State of Georgia. Detentions Employees of the Smyrna Detention Center will act in a professional manner at all times.  We will see to the needs of those entering the facility, be enthusiastic and treat everyone with dignity and respect, and maintain a command presence, never allowing our ability to serve become a weakness to the safety of the facility. 

The City of Smyrna Jail is a full-service jail housing both pretrial and sentenced inmates of Smyrna, Marietta, Powder Springs, and Sandy Springs. Our jail has 64 beds and our current daily population average is 45, with and average length of stay of 3.5 days. The Jail has authorized Staff of 17 officers and two civilians. 

The Jail Staff is comprised of a Major, a Lieutenant (Chief Jailer), four Detention Sergeants, 14 detention officers and one civilian (dietitian ) responsible to a part-time assistant. The dietitian serves the inmates three meals a day which are within  national standards for calorie intake as well as special dietary needs.

Note: Effective Monday, January 27, 2020 the front desk hours change to 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The front desk will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. To bond people out of jail or obtain a vehicle release, please use the call button on the outside wall.
